Complete Video of Rush Limbaugh at the CPAC Convention:

Rush Limbaugh spoke on Friday at the CPAC convention as the Keynot Speaker. His speech was outstanding and literally brought the house down. As Rush said since his speech was carried by Fox News this was his first "Televised Address to the Nation". With a huge HAT TIP to Hot Air.com COMMON SENSE brings you the entire speech.

Rush: This notion that I want the President to fail, folks, this shows you a sign of the problem we've got. That's nothing more than common sense and to not be able to say it, why in the world do I want what we just described, rampant government growth indebtedness, wealth that's not even being created yet that is being spent, what is in this? What possibly is in this that anybody of us want to succeed? Did the Democrats want the war on Iraq to fail!
CROWD: Yes!
RUSH: They certainly did. They not only wanted the war in Iraq to fail, they proclaimed it a failure. There's Dingy Harry Reid waiving a white flag: [Harry Reid impression] This war is lost. This war is -- [Cheers and Applause] They called General Petraeus a liar before he even testified. Mrs. Clinton -- [Crowd Booing] -- said she had to, willingly suspend disbelief in order to listen to Petraeus. We're in the process of winning the war. The last thing they wanted was to win. They hoped George Bush failed. So what is so strange about being honest to say that I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed? [Applause]

$2 TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT:

Or 2,000 billion. Once (last year) a record $400 billion deficit was considered excessive and dangerous. What a difference a year makes! This years deficit is estimated to be at least $2 Trillion dollars a record for any country in any year. This works out to over $25,500 per taxpayer and will be a record 12.3% of our GDP. Get ready for another record $1,000,000,000,000 tax increase over the next 10 years. This is as John McCain said "Generational Theft" where we are taxing money from all our children, grandchildren and their children. All of this money must be payed back, with interest. And we are just beginning...

TOTAL DOMINATION

Fox News is extending its total domination over the cable news spectrum. For the seventh straight year and the 86th consecutive month Fox News is the most watched cable television network. Fox brings you the news in a "Fair and Balanced" format and is it any wonder that several of their top reporters (Geraldo Rivera, Greta Van Susteren and Glenn Beck) have defected from other networks? Obviously, they want to be with Number One. Congratulations to Fox News for their domination of the cable news race!

Fox News was the ratings leader during prime time and total day during February 2009 — its 86th month on top. FNC averaged more Total Viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined in prime time and total day. FNC had nine out of the top 10 programs in cable news last month in Total Viewers. The O'Reilly Factor was #1 for the 99th consecutive month, and was up 33% in Total Viewers compared to February 2008. The other top programs included Hannity (up 38%), Glenn Beck (the 5pmET hour was up 100%), The FOX Report with Shepard Smith (up 30%) and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren (up 24%). On the Record also reclaimed the lead in the 25-54 demographic, up 4% year to year. At 7pmET, FOX Report was up 28% in the demo, The O'Reilly Factor was up 44% and "Hannity" up 34%. TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'D BAD:

Recently ran across the most recent J.D. Powers automotive quality rankings. As you know JD Powers is the gold standard in automotive quality. What I found interesting is that two of the top three brands are American "Mercury" and "Cadillac" and three of the top six nameplates are Domestic with Buick up there. All three of these brands exceed BMW, Honda, Jaguar, Porsche, Mitsubishi, Infinity and Mercedes-Benz. Also interesting is the bottom six manufacturers in quality are all foreign brands (Land Rover, Suzuki, Kia, Isuzu, Saab and Volkswagen). Here it the list in its entirety:

Why a Commerce Job goes unfilled:
Judd Gregg surprised the Obama administration by withdrawing from his Commerce job offer. But it shouldn't have been a surprise. Commerce itself is being devalued in this administration. That needs to change. Read the rest here.

Mending Fences:
Remember the border fence? The one being built is not the fence authorized by Congress, and its effectiveness is in doubt. As Mexico implodes, a proper fence is infrastructure we really need. Read the rest here.

Diplomacy by itself won't work with Iran:
Throughout his presidency, George W. Bush said the U.S. "would not tolerate" a nuclear-weapons-capable Iran. That he kept his promise was more a matter of timing than of policy. President Barack Obama will not be so lucky. Read the rest here.

HAPPY 200th BIRTHDAY PRESIDENT LINCOLN

Today, February 12 is our 16th President Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday. Lincoln is regarded by many as one of our greatest presidents and his the story of his life has been the subject of literally thousands of books. Lincoln never received more than two years of formal education but was able to teach himself to read, study the law and become a successful lawyer. Lincoln gained national fame via his famous debates with Stephen Douglas where they debated the subject of slavery. After serving just one term in the US House of Representatives he ran for Senate where he was defeated but two years later was elected our 16th President. Beginning with South Carolina 11 stated left the Union and later the Civil War started which lasted some four bloody years. Everyone knows Lincoln as the man who freed the slaves via his Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. Lincoln was one of the founders of the Republican Party which was founded on the basis of putting an end to slavery. Lincoln fired seven Union generals before eventually settling on US Grant who eventually won the Civil War. Just days after the end of the Civil War he was assassinated in Ford's Theater in Washington DC. Likely the United States would be a two separate countries with Abraham Lincoln and we all should be grateful for his presidency. Happy birthday President Lincoln!

CLASSY vs TRASHY - MATURE vs CHILDISH

COMMON CENTS previously highlighted the very classy and generous video that the Bush Twins made for the incoming Obama girls, Sasha and Malia. In this post we will explore how the last two Presidents handled the transition to power and you make the decision which one handled it correctly. Eight years ago a new administration was coming to power and the Clinton Presidency was ending. Remember how they treated the incoming Bush Administration?

2009: Outgoing President George W. Bush quietly boards his helicopter and leaves for Texas, commenting only: "Today is not about me. Today is a historical day for our nation and people."

Eight years ago
: Outgoing President Bill Clinton schedules two separate radio addresses to the nation, and
organizes a public farewell speech/rally in downtown Washington D.C. scheduled to directly conflict with incoming President Bush's inauguration ceremony.

2009
: President Bush leaves office without issuing a single Presidential pardon, only granting a commutation of
sentence to two former border patrol agents convicted of shooting a convicted drug smuggler. He does not grant any type of clemency to Scooter Libby or any other former political aide, ally,or business partner.

Eight years ago
: President Clinton issues 140 pardons and several commutations of sentence on his final day
in office. Included in these are: billionaire financier, convicted tax evader, and leading Democratic campaign contributor Marc Rich; Whitwater scandal figure Susan McDougal; Congressional Post Office Scandal figure and former Democratic Congressman Dan Rostenkowski; convicted bank fraud, sexual assault and child porn perpetrator and former Democratic Congressman Melvin Reynolds; and convicted drug felon Roger Clinton, the President's half-brother.

2009:
The Bush daughters leave gift baskets in the White House bedrooms for the Obama daughters,
containing flowers, candy, stuffed animals, DVD's and CD's, and heartfelt notes of encouragement and advice for the young girls on how to prepare for their new lives in the White House.

Eight years ago
: Clinton and Gore staffers
remove the letter "W" from every computer key-pad in the entire White House, and damage furniture in the White House master bedroom.

TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK! Crap Sandwich Update

Tonight the US Senate is scheduled to vote on what is affectionately known as the Trillion Dollar Crap Sandwich or the "stimulus bill". This monster of a bill, bigger than the combined costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars is nothing but a drunken orgy of pork-barrel spending. It includes $140 million for unemployed Climate Modelers money to refurbish yachts of the rich and famous. Worse the Congressional Budget office says only $26 billion will be spent this year and only $110 billion will be spent in 2010 when it will actually do some good. The good news in all this is support for this loser of a bill has fallen to only 37% two weeks ago it was 45%.

We can still kill this Trillion Dollar Crap Sandwich. Call the US Capitol switchboard at (202)224-3121. And there are several Senators out there that need to be contacted NOW that are on the fence. These include:
  • Susan Collins - (202) 224-2523 (Republican Maine)
  • Olympia Snowe - (202) 224-5344 (Republican Maine)
  • George Voinovich - (202) 224-3353 (Republican Ohio)
  • Arlin Specter - (202) 224-4254 (Republican Pennsylvania)
  • Dick Lugar - (202) 224-4814 (Republican Indiana)
  • Ben Nelson - (202) 224-6551 (Democrat Nebraska)
  • Blanche Lincoln - (202) 224-4843 (Democrat Arkansas)
  • Jim Webb - (202) 224-4024 (Democrat Virginia)
  • Mark Warner - (202) 224-2023 (Democrat Virginia)
  • Bryon Dorgan - (202) 224-2551 (Democrat North Dakota)
Michelle Malkin has an excellent blog on Who are the Undecided Senators you can read here.
And Senator Lindsey Graham has an excellent video about the "Stimulus" Plan:

LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL?

Everyone knows that the housing crisis is the Genesis of the current economic crisis we are in. Recently there has been some good news coming out with sales actually increasing in December 2008 (without any bailout or stimulus shenanigans). You may not find this news anywhere else but COMMON CENTS, as always, is on the lookout for good news.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Pending U.S. home sales rebounded in December, as buyers snapped up properties at deep discounts, especially in the South and Midwest. The National Association of Realtors said Tuesday its seasonally adjusted index of pending sales for preowned homes for December rose 6.3% to 87.7 from an upwardly revised November reading of 82.5. That's better than the 82.3 reading economists expected, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters. The reading also was up 2.1% from December 2007. Red the entire story here.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The number of existing homes sold in December rose 6.5% from the previous month, according to a report released Monday, as bargain hunters took advantage of plummeting prices. The National Association of Realtors said that home sales increased to a seasonally-adjusted, annualized rate of 4.74 million units. That's up from a revised pace of 4.45 million units sold in November and more than the rate of 4.4 million units projected by a consensus of industry analysts as reported by Briefing.com. Read the story here.
