DEMOCRATIC PARTY vs. BLACK AMERICA:

There is no question that the Democratic Party has had a long history of oppressing Blacks in America. Seven Democratic Presidents have owned slaves including Thomas Jefferson, the founder of the modern Democratic Party. Democrats supported slavery and went to war against the United States to defend and extend the institution of slavery. Democrats founded the Klu Klux Klan, supported Jim Crow Laws, opposed the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the US Constitution. In the 20th century famous Democrats including Bull Conner and George Wallace literally blocked school house doors to prevent black children from entering public schools. Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower had to send the National Guard to ensure the schools were integrated. Former United States Senator Robert Byrd is a former Klu Klux Klan recruiter (Kleagle) who did his job so well he was rewarded with a US Senate Seat from West Virginia. Jesse Jackson Jr. recently stated in the book Bamboozled: One of the book's many bombshells comes from an interview McGlowan conducted with Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., about the origins of the Confederate flag. On page 134 of Bamboozled, the son of Reverend Jesse Jackson confesses that the Confederate flag, long used as an electoral bludgeon against conservatives and Republicans, is actually a symbol of the Democratic Party: "There is no doubt that the Democratic Party is the party of the Confederacy, historically, that the Democratic Party's flag is the Confederate flag. It was our party's flag. That Jefferson Davis was a Democrat; that Stonewall Jackson strongly identified with the Democratic Party; that secessionists in the South saw themselves as Democrats and were Democrats; that so much of the Democratic Party's history, since it is our nation's oldest political party, has its roots in slavery."In Bamboozled, author Angela McGlowan calls Jackson's admission "stunningly candid" and "a statement both impressive in its historical accuracy and devastating in its implications. McGlowan adds, "Congressman Jackson is an honest Democrat and should be applauded as such."
Everyone knows that Abraham Lincoln who freed the slaves was a Republican but did you know that the Republican Party helped establish Black Universities in the south, or that Martin Luther King was a Republican. Amazingly The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is now reviewing Case No. 05-35890 in which a descendant of slavery is suing the Democratic Party demanding an apology for the Democratic Party's support of slavery and segregation. Go figure...

Political platforms change over time. Neither the Republican or Democratic parties are the same as they were in the 1860's.
