Economy: As the White House proclaims its "recovery summer," Americans are suddenly feeling pretty bad about things. Maybe it's because their can-do spirit has come face-to-face with a "can't-do" government. Read the rest here.
Energy Policy: The administration plans to use sleight-of-hand politics to sneak through an economy-killing tax on energy as necessary to save the Earth. Make no mistake: Cap-and-trade is a tax every American will pay in every aspect of his or her life. Read the rest here.
Waive goodbye to easy credit: The word "credit" traces its origins to the Latin credo, or "I believe." Read the rest here.
Intelligence: The Justice Department's surprise roundup of 11 Russian "illegals" acting as unregistered foreign agents is being dismissed as irrelevant to the Obama administration's "reset button" with Russia. We doubt it. Read the rest here.
Iran: We now have it on high authority from within the Obama administration that the new sanctions against the regime will not stop Tehran's nuclear weapons ambitions. They're all about show, not substance. Read the rest here.
Economic Policy: Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman says the U.S. is in the "early stages of a third Great Depression." If he's right, it's only because American policymakers have been following his advice. Read the rest here.

The Democratic Party's Failed Economic Record:
The Story the State-Run Media refused to run.
In October 2006 when the US electorate elected the Democrats to run Congress the US Unemployment was 4.4%. This was below the average unemployment rate of the 70s, 80s, or 90s. The Democratic Party campaigned on bringing "change" to America. And change we got. Almost immediately the unemployment rate began to go up and today is hovering near 10%. Despite the fact that his party, the Democrats, controlled Congress, and the spending, Barack Obama was able to run against Congress and was elected in 2008. Not surprising with the Democrats in firm control of Congress the unemployment rate steadily increased to its current 9.7%.
The record is clear. This party is beneath incompetent. They are clueless. Worse - they are dangerous. The graph below details the way the unemployment rate has gone UP since January 2007.

Gateway Pundit said it better than anyone has!
For the record…
Barack Obama is the worst president in history on job creation–
According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. shed 2.3 million jobs since February 2009, Obama’s first full month in office. Since Obama’s election in 2008, the US economy has shed 4.4 million jobs. That’s worse than Herbert Hoover.

JD Powers Survey. US Automakers exceed Imports in quality!
Who makes the best cars? Two weeks ago JD Powers and Associates released their latest automobile quality survey. As always the ratings are based on 3-year old cars, the 2007 models, and are compiled by surveying some 40,000 owners of their respective cars. Overall domestic automakers had 108 problems per 100 cars while imported automakers had 109 problems per 100 cars. (See below).
Just as importantly - the manufacturers with the most problems are all imports, as was the case last year. The bottom five manufacturers in the JD Power survey were all imports (Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Mini and Jaguar). Interestingly, Toyota dropped from 6th place all the way down to 21st place. The JD Power survey is the Gold Standard in the auto industry.

JON VOIGHT: An open letter to President Obama:
WOW. As published in the Washington Times.
June 22, 2010
President Obama:
You will be the first American president that lied to the Jewish people, and the American people as well, when you said that you would defend Israel, the only Democratic state in the Middle East, against all their enemies. You have done just the opposite. You have propagandized Israel, until they look like they are everyone's enemy — and it has resonated throughout the world. You are putting Israel in harm's way, and you have promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world.
You have brought this to a people who have given the world the Ten Commandments and most laws we live by today. The Jewish people have given the world our greatest scientists and philosophers, and the cures for many diseases, and now you play a very dangerous game so you can look like a true martyr to what you see and say are the underdogs. But the underdogs you defend are murderers and criminals who want Israel eradicated.
You have brought to Arizona a civil war, once again defending the criminals and illegals, creating a meltdown for good, loyal, law-abiding citizens. Your destruction of this country may never be remedied, and we may never recover. I pray to God you stop, and I hope the people in this great country realize your agenda is not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of your politics.
With heartfelt and deep concern for America and Israel,
Jon Voight

The Rolling Stone interview with General Stanley McChrystal:
The news cycle is all abuzz with the Rolling Stone interview with General McChrystal. Rolling Stone had access to the General for some time. The article will not be in print until Friday but it is available online now. Common Cents proudly brings you the explosive interview with General McChrystal - "The Runaway General".
By Michael HastingsJun 22, 2010 10:00 AM EDTThis article appears in RS 1108/1109 from July 8-22, 2010, on newsstands Friday, June 25.
'How'd I get screwed into going to this dinner?" demands Gen. Stanley McChrystal. It's a Thursday night in mid-April, and the commander of all U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan is sitting in a four-star suite at the Hôtel Westminster in Paris. He's in France to sell his new war strategy to our NATO allies – to keep up the fiction, in essence, that we actually have allies. Since McChrystal took over a year ago, the Afghan war has become the exclusive property of the United States. Opposition to the war has already toppled the Dutch government, forced the resignation of Germany's president and sparked both Canada and the Netherlands to announce the withdrawal of their 4,500 troops. McChrystal is in Paris to keep the French, who have lost more than 40 soldiers in Afghanistan, from going all wobbly on him.
"The dinner comes with the position, sir," says his chief of staff, Col. Charlie Flynn.
McChrystal turns sharply in his chair.
"Hey, Charlie," he asks, "does this come with the position?"
McChrystal gives him the middle finger...

"Summertime!"
Today is the first day of summer! This post is dedicated to Tim Q of Madison, WI!
In the US, Canada, Europe, Central America, Asia:
Monday, June 21, at approximately midnight is the official first day of summer for 2010 in the Northern Hemisphere (Summer solstice).
On that day, the Southern Hemisphere observes the winter solstice and begins their winter season.
In Australia, Southern Africa and South America:
The official date of summer south of the equator (corresponding to the first official day of winter in places north of the equator) would be December 21.
What better way to celebrate than with Kenny Chesney's hit song "Summertime". Turn it up - this song is meant to be listened to LOUD.
"The more things change
The more they stay the same
Don't matter how old you are
When you know what I'm talkin' 'bout
Yeah baby when you got
Two bare feet on the dashboard
Young love and an old Ford
Cheap shades and a tattoo
And a Yoo-Hoo bottle rollin' on the floorboard
Perfect song on the radio
Sing along 'cause it's one we know
It's a smile, it's a kiss
It's a sip of wine, it's summertime
Sweet summertime"
