The Kagan Files:

On Monday President Obama will nominate Solicitor General Elena Kagan to be the Nation's 119th Supreme Court Justice.  This move was largely expected as Kagan, 50 years old, would likely be a safe liberal vote for the Obama Administration. This fight promises to dominate the summer with both sides gearing up. Interestingly, although not unprecedented, Kagan is not a judge and has no judicial experience.  Some will undoubtedly question if she is qualified to sit on the Supreme Court.

Her lack of previous judgeship doesn't bother me. I'm of the mindset, in fact, that we need to go with more ordinary folk when it comes to the SCOTUS.

Hell, I'd be more comfortable opening the phone book and promoting the first name I look at than letting Obama place a judge on the bench.

Ordinary folk may be needed in the SCOTUS but Dean of the Harvard Law School hardly fills that billing and in fact, seems like something to distance oneself from as much as possible, college professor liberal and heck, probably another person who never got a real job once again.
