Indeed, this is most distressing news. Seems like the global warming effect has already done something that many Europeans were afraid of: melting of the artic ice slowed down the Gulf Stream, which has brought warmth to Europe - until now. That's why it is cold in Europe in spite of the global warming.
This is exactly what happens, when the free flow of energy is blocked.
