September 11, 2001 as seen from Outer Space

The only American on the International Space Station Frank Culbertson (USN Retired) took these pictures of the smoking World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks:

“The smoke seemed to have an odd bloom to it at the base of the column that was streaming south of the city.
