This chart shows the Job Losses (percentages) of the last 11 recessions.  As you can the job losses in the current recession (RED) is puny compared to all the others.  Most recessions see huge returns in jobs, under this current recession we are still 4% below where we were when the recession began.  Also this is the longest lasting job recession in the last 60 years!
