Very nice thing to do, but the old fridge and stove and microwave and dishwasher will probably outlast the newer versions he got. Who is going to pay the rent on his new place, since he was evicted from the old one? Who will pay the bill for the cable for his new TV? Heartwarming story, but not very practical.

Give a man a fish, he eats today. Give a man a net he eats every day. Nothing lasts without working to keep it.
