This concept goes back to the War of Northern Aggression. The history of the US was crafted to say that blacks were discriminated against in the South, that blacks did not fight for the CSA, and many other myths. Fact is that these presumptions are far from the truth and is a very bigoted, racist concept. Europeans observing our culture in the era found racism much worse in the north. Many states in the north would not allow blacks to live there. Most northern states had black laws to restrict blacks in many ways. In the South blacks had much more freedom, had large plantations, we're the predominate component of the middle class. Look up Melrose plantation. Sure, blacks were the larger component of slaves. But they were treated well and many blacks today desire the concepts that slavery provided such as cradle to grave care. Conventional concepts regarding blacks have been wrong from day one and are used to keep blacks in their place, as the liberals see it.
