US News and World Report published a report recently ranking the 50 states in multiple categories. As you can see Florida easily tops California - and Florida is ranked #1 in education!
Florida is ranked #10 overall:
California is ranked #33 overall:
For what it's worth - Utah is #1 and Louisiana is #50.
