What if what he was really trying to convey is that ALL conditional existence MUST BE TRANSCENDED, and that what humans believe to be important, is nothing more than the limitation that is keeping everyone from realizing the divine nature of reality that is behind everything that appears to be real...that supposedly separate existence is nothing but an illusion that everyone buys into? Certainly would have been better if he knew how to write, and had trusted folks other than his twelve disciples (students) to communicate the truth of his teachings.
Ongoing discoveries increasingly support the biblical history and narrative as recorded but we have to make do with what we have. For me, along with billions of others over time, that has been enough to convince me of the veracity of the Bible which teaches about Him.
