Stocks Bounce Back; All Three Major Indexes Log Record Closes
Stocks earned wins across the board today for the first time in roughly a week. The big story was the Dow, which added 507 points for a second-straight triple-digit pop and a record close. It was also the blue-chip index's best single-session gain since May 27.
Both S&P 500 and Nasdaq scored record settlements of their own, too, as trade deal tailwinds picked up, with the Financial Times reporting the European Union (EU) and U.S. are nearing a 15% tariff agreement. Right on cue, Wall Street's "fear gauge," the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX), logged its lowest close since Feb. 19.

 

Trump secures historic $550B trade deal with Japan: 'Never been anything like it'

A "massive" $550 billion trade deal has been reached with Japan, President Donald Trump said on Tuesday, adding that it will create hundreds of thousands of jobs.
"We just completed a massive Deal with Japan, perhaps the largest Deal ever made," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Japan will invest, at my direction, $550 Billion Dollars into the United States, which will receive 90% of the Profits. This Deal will create Hundreds of Thousands of Jobs — There has never been anything like it."
Trump said Japan will open its country to trade in things like cars, trucks, rice and other agricultural products, as well as pay reciprocal tariffs of 15% to the U.S., under the deal. 
 

Trump announces Philippine trade deal framework with 19% tariffs after meeting with President Marcos Jr.

President Donald Trump said he has reached a trade agreement with Philippine leader Ferdinand Marcos Jr., following a meeting Tuesday at the White House, that will see the U.S. slightly drop its tariff rate for the Philippines without paying import taxes for what it sells there.


US, Indonesia trade deal: Tariffs cut to 19%, Trump calls it 'huge win'
The United States and Indonesia have finalized a trade agreement that will remove tariffs on over 99% of US exports and eliminate all non-tariff barriers affecting American businesses. In return, the US will reduce proposed tariffs on Indonesian goods from 32% to 19%.


US egg prices fall for third straight month
The average price for a dozen eggs is now $3.77, another step down from March’s record-high carton costs.  The newest numbers mark the third straight month of declining egg prices for American consumers, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data. The highest price — around $6.23 in March — has steadily dipped each month, with costs landing near $5.12 in April and $4.55 in May.
