My brother works for the FAA, doing hands-on inspections of planes and interviewing and running exams for mechanics vying for credentials. His work is AT LEAST as important as that of the TSA. He worked through the "shutdown" without pay as well. I don't see him getting a $10K check. This smacks of a PR stunt, and cost the taxpayer $650M!
For the record, NONE of these federal employees worked "without pay." Their pay was deferred to the end of the "shutdown." They're getting backfilled this weekend...
