85 octane, wow thats the first time i seen it that low. what runs that lawn mowers? no wonder cars are dying in5 to 6 years.

Cars aren't dying in 5-6 years, you twit. Maybe your car's batteries died that quickly, and the replacement is so expensive you might as well junk the car. But the data says that cars are lasting 12-16 years, on average. Drink your soy latte and calm down.

No, modern cars should not run on 85-octane fuel; it is only suitable for certain older, carbureted engines and is often sold in high-elevation areas where lower barometric pressure makes it less of an issue. Using it in a modern car can lead to engine knocking, reduced performance, lower fuel economy, and may even void your warranty. Always check your owner's manual or the label inside your fuel filler door for the manufacturer-recommended octane rating

The octane requirement of gasoline engines is reduced at altitude because exhaust is pushing against lower pressure. Denver is the "Mile High City" where 85 octane number is equivalent to about 87 at sea level.
