California Gov. Gavin Newsom praised President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s “Trump Accounts,” calling the program “one of the best things he’s done” and encouraging families to sign up. Newsom also credited Melania Trump’s “Fostering the Future” initiative and said California added funding for the program. His comments came as California announced that 1 million CalKIDS accounts had been claimed, with eligible children able to receive up to $1,500 for future education and career training.
