The Best Editorial Page you will find:

is Investor's Business Daily.  IBD combines easy-to-read common sense (no pun intended) editorials that expose the problems of Big Government rule and tout the benefits of Free Markets.  A sample of this weeks' editorials?

Regulation:  Nobody should be fooled by President Obama's latest effort to appear business-friendly by trimming a few old federal regulations. This is still the most pro-regulation, anti-business administration in decades.

Immigration:  In a victory for states' rights, the Supreme Court has upheld the state law requiring businesses to verify immigration status of employees and revoking their business licenses if they knowingly hire illegal aliens.

CorruptionHow is it that a GOP politico can get drummed out of the Senate for bathroom acts while Rep. Barney Frank merits not even a flicker of censure for economically disastrous cronyism? When will the double standard end?

Courage:  Someone who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for actually doing something just snubbed someone who won it for nothing. But Lech Walesa's refusal to meet President Obama is also a cry to save Poland.

Budget:  If you don't think the anti-spending fervor of the tea party is catching, just look at what happened to President Obama in the Senate on Wednesday. His budget was unanimously rejected.

National Security:  The Lone Star state's efforts to protect its citizens from the wandering hands of the federal behemoth fail as the administration says the Constitution gives it the right to touch our "junk."

Global Warming:  Alarmist academics are being forced to show their work and they don't like it. Do they fear that a web of deception will unravel if their data are made public?

Economic Policy:  In a joint op-ed with the British prime minister, President Obama admits that jobs are created by an innovative private sector. So why is he strangling ours with regulations, rules and taxes?

Change:  The president has ordered the federal vehicle fleet to be made up entirely of alternative-fuel autos by 2015. The high cost of this policy will be far out of proportion to any positive environmental impact.

Will somebody PLEASE tell Presisent Obama what year it is!

Amazing.  Simply amazing.  If this had been a Republican - say (insert a Republican's name here) the State Controlled Media would never have let this go.  There would be movies made about this - it would be the lead story for weeks upon weeks.  Story is at Buckingham Palace two days ago Obama signed the guest book and confirmed the date, May 24th but obviously put 2008 down.  WOW - don't know if I should laugh or cry.

Legal Insurrection is all over this story.
During a visit today, Obama signed the guest book at Westminster Abbey "24 May, 2008."

I'm impressed that he got the month and day correct.

This will be about a three hour laugh.

Had it been [insert name of random Republican here] it would have been a three week media blitz, followed by a three month series of skits on Saturday Night Live.

But it was the guy who stopped the seas from rising.  So stop picking on him.

Added - Well, he is from Chicago:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a Joint Session of Congress today.  Outstanding speech!

When we say Never Again we mean "Never Again"
But “Israel will not return to indefensible boundaries of 1967.” Generous on size of Palestinian state, but firm on where borders lie.
“Palestinian refugee problem will be resolved OUTSIDE the borders of Israel.”
“Jerusalem must never again be divided, must remain united capital of Israel.”
“The only peace that will hold is a peace that can be defended. Peace must be anchored in security.”
“Peace cannot be imposed. It must be negotiated” — by those truly committed to peace. Hamas is not committed to peace. It is committed to Israel’s destruction. We will not negotiate with al Qaeda’s Palestinian arm.

American Natural Disasters - How to help...

The tornado that struck Joplin, MO has been devestating.  About 3/4 of the town was destroyed and many people lost literally everything.  And the flood waters that are hitting Louisiana and Mississippi are wiping out thousands of homes and businesses.

Sometimes there is debate about who gives more to charity - liberals or conservatives.  As you can see there is no contest when it comes to who is more generous, liberals or conservatives.
People who identify themselves as conservatives donate money to charity more often than people who identify themselves as liberals. They donate more money and a higher percentage of their incomes.  It is not that conservatives have more money. Liberal families average 6 percent higher incomes than conservative families.
So is the fact that most of the states that voted for John Kerry during the 2004 election donated a lower percentage of their incomes to charity than the states that voted for President Bush.  Conservatives not only donate more money to charity than liberals do, conservatives volunteer more time as well. More conservatives than liberals also donate blood. "If liberals and moderates gave blood at the same rate as conservatives, the blood supply of the United States would jump about 45 percent."
You can read the article here
Another great article on conservative vs. liberals generosity is here.
Liberals like to be known as generous and giving but the facts are otherwise. Sarah Palin and her husband Todd just trounced Senator Biden's family in terms of their charity giving. Consider:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made considerably less money than rival Sen. Joe Biden, but the Palin family gave more to charity in the last two years than Biden has in the last eight combined, according to Palin's tax records released Friday afternoon. Palin, the running mate of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), and her husband Todd reported meager earnings from 2006 and 2007, at least by presidential-politics standards.
In 2006, the Palins paid $11,944 in taxes on $127,869 in income. In 2007, they paid $24,738 on $166,080.
But in 2006, they donated $4,880 to charity, and in 2007, they donated $3,325.
By contrast, Biden (D-Del.), Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's running mate, has donated a total of $3,690 since 1998 despite his higher Senate salary, according to an analysis posted by National Review. Read about it here.
With that said here are some outstanding charities that we wish you would give to:

About those Oil Company "Subsidies"

Superlative article from the American Thinker blowing holes through the talking points of the oil industry subsidies.
It turns out that they are all tax "breaks."  I even hesitate to call them "breaks" because some of them amount to little more than Congress defining accounting terms such as "capital equipment."  And the total amount of earnings not collected in taxes (which liberals define as a "subsidy") is about $4 billion per year.  Here is how that breaks down.

Domestic manufacturing tax deduction -- $1.7 B.  This is a tax deduction given to every manufacturer in the US.  Per CNN, it was "designed to keep factories in the United States."  If that deduction were eliminated for oil companies only, it would mean singling out oil companies from all other manufacturers.

Percentage depletion allowance -- $1 B.  Any industry can write down a portion of the cost of its capital equipment as part of the cost of doing business.  Right now, oil in the ground is treated as capital equipment.  Again, this "subsidy" amounts to how the cost of doing business is defined.  All companies get it, not just oil companies.

Foreign tax credit -- $850 million.  Companies get credit for taxes they pay to other countries.  All companies get this "subsidy," not just oil companies.  Should a company pay tax on tax?  Should only oil companies pay tax on tax?

Intangible drilling costs -- $780 million.  According to CNN, "[a]ll industries get to write off the costs of doing business, but they must take it over the life of an investment. The oil industry gets to take the drilling credit in the first year."  Among these four tax "breaks," this smallest one was the only one that treated oil companies differently.

The above tax "breaks" explain how much tax revenue is not collected from all oil companies.  How much is collected?

Exxon recently released its first quarter results for 2011.  The number grabbing the headlines was Exxon's profit: $10.65 billion in a single quarter.  The number not given quite as much exposure was the taxes it paid in that same quarter:  $8 billion, or 42% of income before taxes.

And what does Exxon do with all that money it has left after paying $8 B in taxes?  It put $7.8 billion into capital and exploration, as part of its plans "to invest between $33 billion and $37 billion per year over the next five years to develop new energy supplies."

In any other industry, that would be called "research and development."  Exxon is plowing 73% of its after-tax profits back into R&D.  Who would be better at spending $4 billion of energy companies' earnings in an attempt to provide our energy in the future: the energy companies or Obama's energy czar?
Just to re-cap a few pertinent features of these "subsidies" to oil companies that Obama wants to cut.
  • They are all tax "breaks," or earnings that oil companies get to keep, not money paid out from the US Treasury.
  • The amount of earnings not collected in taxes is about $4.3 billion per year -- about 0.2% of this year's deficit and enough to fund about 10 hours of current US government spending.
  • A full $3.55 billion of that amount (82%) is due to the way taxes are treated for all industries or manufacturers.  To change these tax laws only for oil companies would require singling them out among all industries for special mistreatment.  (I'm not a lawyer, but that sounds like a bill of attainder to me, something our Constitution forbids.)
  • The only tax in which the oil industry seems to get special treatment compared to other industries is intangible drilling costs.  The amount of that subsidy?  That would be $0.78 billion per year -- enough to fund less than two hours of federal spending in 2011, and not even half the amount we are lending a foreign-owned and state-owned oil company for drilling offshore Brazil.
  • Oil companies already pay tax rates of 40-50% of income.  For one company, Exxon, in one quarter of one year, that amount was over $8 billion, or almost double the so-called tax "subsidy" for all oil companies for an entire year.

The Bin Laden Home Vidoes

Osama bin Laden Home Videos
The US government just released several Osama bin Laden home videos showing himself watching video of himself and of conditions inside his compound.

New video emerges of bin Laden compound:

Resolved: The Bin Laden capture vindicates the policies of George W. Bush:

Rarely has a president been so vindicated and his political opponent proved so wrong.  Ridiculed for years for pursuing the wrong strategy, for putting the United States in danger, for being ignorant, for war crimes and a plethora of other negative things by Democrats of all stripes the capture of Osama Bin Laden proved that President Bush's policies were spot on.  The smartest thing Barack Obama has done is continue the policies of President Bush.
Seeking to score cheap political points, some on the left have bragged that Obama did the job Bush was unable to do. This is an unfair, unseemly, and inaccurate attack. In the narrowest sense, yes, the mission was undeniably carried out on Obama’s watch, but evidence continues to mount that it could not have occurred without crucial intelligence gleaned through policies enacted by the Bush administration after September 11, 2001. Specifically, Osama bin Laden was found because the United States military exploited actionable intelligence extracted by subjecting terrorists to enhanced interrogation techniques (EITs) in secret CIA prisons, by questioning enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay, and by capturing a top al Qaeda source in Iraq.
As long as some liberals remain intent on keeping political score, it must be pointed out that all three sources of these indispensible data points were direct or indirect results of Bush policies – EITs, Gitmo, and the Iraq war – that much of the American Left, including Barack Obama, fought tooth and nail.
We now know the critical key to unlocking the frustrating secret of bin Laden’s whereabouts was identifying and tracking one of his must trusted couriers and confidants. US intelligence and military officials learned of his existence and pseudonym in the years after 9/11 from a terrorist detained at Guantanamo Bay, Muhammad Mani al-Qahtani. Equipped with this information, interrogators were able to wring supplemental information from two high-value prisoners being held at the time in black site CIA prisons: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind of the 9/11 plot, and his radical colleague, Abu Faraj al-Libi. This single piece of information, after years of scrutiny and investigation, would be bin Laden’s undoing.
When the American media revealed that the CIA was operating secret prisons during the Bush administration, the Left professed shock and indignation. They spent years demonizing and persecuting American intelligence operatives for engaging in “torture,” insisting that harsh interrogation techniques were an affront to “our values,” and – besides – they didn’t even work. Multiple public opinion polls taken over the last decade have shown, despite the Left’s protestations, the American people aren’t scandalized. US voters overwhelmingly support the limited use of harsh questioning tactics to prevent terrorist attacks on US soil – even when the loaded term “torture” is included in the question.

Father of 9-11 hero Todd Beamer: "Obama is putting too much spotlight on himself"

Todd Beamer's father 'David' explaining why he will not be going to the 9-11 ceremony at Ground Zero.  David Beamer explains how he got a form letter and the reasons he will not be taking place at the campaign event:

The best editorial page you will find...

is easily Investor's Business Daily.  IBD combine easy-to-read commentaries with spot on relevance that makes it the best editorial page out there.

War On Terror:  The White House agonized for days before deciding against releasing photos of the dead Osama bin Laden or the U.S. operation that took him down. But why shouldn't the world see the truth?

Heroes:  Rather than worry about Obama's poll numbers, let's give the accolades to the best of the best and the president who had the foresight to increase their role and funding.

Politics:  The month-long cold shoulder that the White House gave Texas' plea for a disaster declaration was bad enough. Now the wildfire-scorched state has been turned down flat. Don't think this isn't about punishment.

Elections:  Canada's conservatives roll to victory on a platform of lowered sales and corporate taxes, avoiding climate-change legislation, promoting Arctic sovereignty and upping military spending. Is the GOP listening?

Regulation:  If you need evidence of the intrusiveness of modern government, look no further than the feds' sting of a humble Amish farmer for the heinous crime of selling . .. wait for it ... raw milk.

Kill Vs. Capture:  The battlefield justice that befell Osama bin Laden begs the question — if he'd been captured alive, would he have been accorded the same legal rights we bestowed on his apostle, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?

Video: Rush Limbaugh - "Why was Obama not invited to the Royal Wedding?"

We’ve been anxiously waiting for Rush Limbaugh to comment on the upcoming Royal Wedding™ as, we’re certain, have all of you. Now, finally, the conservative radio host is keen to note that President Barack Obama has not been invited to partake in the wedding to end all weddings, even though far more controversial world leaders are set to gorge themselves on jordan almonds and… pheasant or figgy pudding or whatever it is that wedding-goers will be halfheartedly pushing around on their plates.
Limbaugh slyly notes that this must be a slap in the face to the President and First Lady since, after all, so many “other dictators” received invitation. Even Muammar al-Gaddafi – the man at the center of a heated revolution – was invited, although his invitation was later “rescinded” due to the fighting in Libya, although Limbaugh ventures to guess the real reason is because officials didn’t quite know how to spell his name.
One reason that the Obamas were snubbed, Limbaugh guesses, could be that Obama gave away the bust of Winston Churchill that once decorated the Oval Office, returning it to Britain. (The Telegraph reported on this in 2009 by noting that “Barack Obama has sent Sir Winston Churchill packing and pulse rates soaring among anxious British diplomats.”) Then there’s the fact that Obama once gifted British Labour Party politician Gordon Brown with a set of 25 region 1 DVDs of American movies, effectively rendering the Obamas slightly better gift-givers than my aunt, who has given my father the same wooden duck sculpture four Christmases in a row.
