Tuesday December 4th there is a runoff or special election for the Georgia Senate. Republican Saxby Chambliss is in the race of his life against Democrat Jim Martin. Chambliss finished first in the November 4 election but ended up with under 50% of the vote which, under Georgia law, requires a runoff election. This election is critical to determine if the GOP has any say at all in Washington DC. The National Republican Trust is running ads in support of Chamblis. Please spread the word and if you live in Georgia please vote for Saxby Chamblis.


The NRA is also strongly supporting Saxby Chamblis in the runoff:

The National Rifle Association on Wednesday threw its support behind incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss in Georgia’s Dec. 2 runoff, saying he fears Democratic challenger Jim Martin would help erode Second Amendment protections for gun owners. “We’re going to have some real battles in Washington,” Wayne LaPierre, executive vice-president of the NRA, said Wednesday morning in Atlanta before traveling to Perry for a Chambliss rally.

NATIONAL BLACK REPUBLICAN ASSOCIATION DEMANDS PRES-ELECT OBAMA APOLOGIES FOR DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S 150 YEAR SUPPORT OF SEGREGATION, SLAVERY AND RACISM:

THE National Black Republican Association has demanded that Obama apologize for his party's 150 plus year support of slavery. The Democratic party has historically been the party that has profited from slavery and segregation. All of the famous segregationists were Democrats: George Wallace, Bull Conner etc. The Republican Party was formed for the express purpose of defeating slavery. Ancient history you say - actually no, a former Klu Klux Klan member and high office holder is STILL a member of the Democrat Party the US Senate and holds a leadership role in it, Senator Robert Byrd. A brief history of the Democratic Party's role in race relations is:

• founded the Ku Klux Klan in 1866 as an insurgency to reign terror on blacks, Catholics, Jews and Republicans in opposition to the end of slavery
• through “States’ Rights” claim to own slaves, sought to protect and preserve the institution of slavery from 1792 to 1865
• enacted fugitive slave laws to keep blacks from escaping from plantations
• instigated the 1856 Dred Scott decision which legally classified blacks as property
• passed the Missouri Compromise to spread slavery into 50% of the new Northern states
• passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act designed to spread slavery into all of the new states
• formed the Confederacy, seceded from the Union and fought a Civil War (1861 to 1865) to expand slavery where over 600,000 citizens were killed, including many thousand blacks
• supported the “Plessy v. Ferguson” decision in 1896 that established the “separate but equal” segregation doctrine
• fought Martin Luther King’s agenda for racial equality (such as Democrat Georgia Governor Lester Maddox, Democrat Public Safety Commissioner Eugene “Bull” Connor in and Democrat Alabama Governor George Wallace)
• praises racist Democrat Senator Robert Byrd who was a fierce opponent of desegregating the military
• were the chief opponents of the 1964 Civil Rights Act
• DNC operatives depicted Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele as a “Simple Sambo”

You can read their very interesting petition here and please pass this information on. President-elect Obama would go a long way toward healing the race problems in this country by apologizing for his party's long and historic support of slavery and segregation.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: "The real meaning of Thanksgiving"

As told beginning on page 70 of his book 'See I Told you So' Rush Limbaugh spells out what is the real meaning and lessons of the first Thanksgiving. That lesson is the utter failure of Collectivism or Socialism and the triumph of Free Market Capitalism. The original contract the Pilgrims entered into with merchant-sponsors in London called for everything produced to go into a common store and for every member of the community to be entitled to one common share. All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belonged to the community as well. This is the essence of Socialism. What happened with this early experiment? Their leader William Bradford writes:

“For the young men that were able and fit for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children, without recompense. The strong, or men of parts, had no more division of food, clothes, etc. then he that was weak and not able to do a quarter the other could; this was thought injustice. The aged and graver men to be ranked and equalized in labor, and food, clothes, etc. with the meaner and younger sort, thought it some indignant and disrespect unto them. And for men’s wives to be commanded to do service for other men, as dressing their meat, washing their clothes, etc. they deemed it a kind of slavery, neither could man husbands brook it."

Bradford goes on:

The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years… that by taking away property, and bringing community into a common wealth, would make them happy and flourishing — as if they were wiser than God,” Bradford wrote. “For this community [so far as it was] was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For young men that were most able and fit for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children without any recompense… that was thought injustice.”

So what did Bradford’s community try next? They harnessed the power of good old free enterprise by invoking the capitalistic principle of private property. Every family was assigned its own plot of land to work and permitted to market its own crops and products. And what was the result?

“This had very good success,” wrote Bradford, “for it made all hands industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been”…

In no time, the Pilgrims found they had more food than they could eat themselves. So they set up trading posts and exchanged goods with the Indians. The profits allowed them to pay off their debts to the merchants in London. And the success and prosperity of the Plymouth settlement attracted more Europeans and began what came to be known as the “Great Puritan Migration.”

And that is the real LESSON of Thanksgiving: That long before Marx and Lenin, long before Obama began bragging about "Spreading the wealth around" Socialism was tried and failed on this continent. Now I ask you - where outside of Rush's radio show and/or his book have your read this. This lesson should be taught from the kindergarten on - how dangerous and how much a failure socialism is and how capitilism and free markets create wealth for everyone!

Spread the word. Thanksgiving is the TRIUMPH of Capitalism over Socialism. It is proof positive that free market capitalism works. Are they teaching this in your public school?? Probably not, any wonder why home schooling is growing at rates between 11 - 40% a year!

US Stocks post their largest two day point total rally ever and their largest percentage two-day gain in 21 years!

Nov. 24 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks posted the biggest two- day rally since 1987 after the government guaranteed $306 billion of troubled Citigroup Inc. assets and lawmakers pledged to pass another economic stimulus package. The S&P 500 surged 6.5 percent to 851.81, capping a two-day gain of more than 13 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 396.97 points, or 4.9 percent, to 8,443.39. The Nasdaq Composite rose 6.3 percent to 1,472.02. All but 35 stocks in the S&P 500 gained. Forty-five companies in the index advanced at least 20 percent as all 10 major industry groups in the main benchmark for American equities gained, led by financials. The 84 banks, brokers and insurers in the index soared almost 19 percent as a group, the steepest advance since the gauge was created in 1989.Today’s advance followed a 6.3 percent rally in the S&P 500 on Nov. 21.

Other US Markets were up over 8% on Monday.

VICTORY IN IRAQ

November 22, 2008 is Victory in Iraq day. By any measure the US and the Iraqi Army have defeated the enemies of Iraq. We should be proud of the members of our US Service members who prevailed in this war. As another blogger posted:

By every measure, The United States and coalition forces have conclusively defeated all enemies in Iraq, pacified the country, deposed the previous regime, successfully helped to establish a new functioning democratic government, and suppressed any lingering insurgencies. The war has come to an end. And we won. What more indication do you need? An announcement from the outgoing Bush administration? It's not gonna happen. An announcement from the incoming Obama administration? That's really not gonna happen. A declaration of victory by the media? Please. Don't make me laugh. A concession of surrender by what few remaining insurgents remain in hiding? Forget about it. The moment has come to acknowledge the obvious. To overtly declare a fact that has already been true for quite some time now.

HOW TO STEAL A SENATE SEAT - 101

The morning after the Senate election in Minnesota Republican Norm Coleman was ahead of Democrat Al Franken by over 700 votes. Coleman was declared the winner by AP as 100% of the precincts had reported. Since then over 500 "votes" have turned up for Franken with literally none for Coleman. Minnesota requires an automatic recount if the winning percentage is less than .5% which it is in this case.

Before and during the recount Franken has been aggressively challenging ballots that were cast for Norm Coleman. Amazingly some of the ballots being challenged by Franken are obvious votes for Republican Norm Coleman. You decide who the voter intended to vote for:

OBAMA LAWSUITS (update)

Yes lawsuits as in plural. The most famous is of course Phil Berg's lawsuit being appealed to the Supreme Court. This suit was in the Hawaii Supreme Court but was dismissed just before the election. Obama has until December 1, 2008 to respond to the lawsuit.

Obama challenging Senator Obama’s lack of “qualifications” to serve as President of the United States filed a Writ of Certiorari in the United States Supreme Court on October 30, 2008, requesting review of the United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Judge Surrick’s Dismissal of Philip J. Berg’s lawsuit against Barack H. Obama, Jr., the DNC and the other co-Defendants. Accordingly, the U. S. Supreme Court has set dates in which Barack Obama, the DNC and all co-Defendants are to respond to the Writ, which is on or before. You can read about the Berg vs. Obama lawsuit here.

Additionally, Dr. Alan Keys has filed a lawsuit challenging Obama's eligibility to be President. This is a partial copy of the lawsuit:

62. Article II, Section I of the United States Constitution, states, in pertinent part, as follows:

"No Person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President;"

63. Senator Barack H. Obama is a candidate for the Office of the President of the United States. However, to assume such office, Senator Obama must meet the qualifications specified for the Office of the President of the United States, which includes that he must be a "natural born" citizen. Senator Obama has failed to demonstrate that he is a "natural born" citizen. There are other legal challenges before various state and federal courts regarding aspects of lost or dual citizenship concerning Senator Obama. Those challenges, in and of themselves, demonstrate Petitioners’ argument that reasonable doubt exists as to the eligibility of the Democratic Party’s nominee for President.

64. SOS is responsible for ensuring the validity of the State election process by, among other things, verifying the qualifications of the voters, approving the ballots and the candidates, supervising the counting of the ballots, and certifying the results. This certification of the vote by SOS, based upon which Electors received the highest number of votes in the state, is the method provided for in California law for ascertaining which Electors are appointed to vote for president (California Elections Code §15505, 3 U.S.C. § 6). On December 1, or as soon as soon as the election results have been received from all counties in the state, SOS shall certify the names of the ascertained Electors to the Governor, and then transmit to each presidential Elector a certificate of election (California Elections Code § 15505). The Governor then issues and seals a Certificate of Ascertainment which is delivered to the Electors by December 15 (3 U.S.C. § 6), who then meet to sign the Certificate of Vote (Federal Election Code § 192.006). The office of SOS is intended to be non-biased and to provide the critical sense of fairness and impartiality necessary for the people to have faith in the fundamental underpinnings of the democratic basis for our elections. Michael Yon has is a blogger who has be in bedded with the US Army thought Iraq for years now. He has been published in numerous magazines and has been interviewed countless times. Yon's November 10th posting should be required reading in America.

"THE WAR IS OVER AND WE WON:" Michael Yon just phoned from Baghdad, and reports that things are much better than he had expected, and he had expected things to be good. "There's nothing going on. I'm with the 10th Mountain Division, and about half of the guys I'm with haven't fired their weapons on this tour and they've been here eight months. And the place we're at, South Baghdad, used to be one of the worst places in Iraq. And now there's nothing going on. I've been walking my feet off and haven't seen anything. I've been asking Iraqis, 'do you think the violence will kick up again,' but even the Iraqi journalists are sounding optimistic now and they're usually dour." There's a little bit of violence here and there, but nothing that's a threat to the general situation. Plus, not only the Iraqi Army, but even the National Police are well thought of by the populace. Training from U.S. toops has paid off, he says, in building a rapport. He says the big problem everybody is talking about now is corruption. But hey, we have that here, too. He'll be heading to Afghanistan next week. "Afghanistan is a bad situation, but on Iraq I can't believe things have turned out so well." He thinks that Obama will be able to pull troops out, and send some to Afghanistan, without creating problems in Iraq. Michael will be reporting from Afghanistan soon, and sending back video, so stay tuned. Things aren't going swimmingly there. "No thanks to the Democrats, including Barack Obama and Joe Biden, who tried to keep it from happening. I see that they still can't bring themselves to utter the word 'win' with respect to the war. They continue to talk about 'ending' it. Well, it looks like George Bush did that for them, and he won it as well." Read about it here here and here.

It is well established that conservatives give more to charity than liberals. Despite the popular culture paradigm that liberals are kindhearted and conservatives mean spirited the fact is that it is the opposite. This explains why Sarah Palin and her family gave considerably more to charity (10 times as much) than Joe Biden despite earning considerably less. More interesting is this:

• Although liberal families' incomes average 6 percent higher than those of conservative families, conservative-headed households give, on average, 30 percent more to charity than the average liberal-headed household ($1,600 per year vs. $1,227).
• Conservatives also donate more time and give more blood.
• Residents of the states that voted for John Kerry in 2004 gave smaller percentages of their incomes to charity than did residents of states that voted for George Bush.
• Bush carried 24 of the 25 states where charitable giving was above average.
• In the 10 reddest states, in which Bush got more than 60 percent majorities, the average percentage of personal income donated to charity was 3.5. Residents of the bluest states, which gave Bush less than 40 percent, donated just 1.9 percent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average tanked again, falling over another 400 points today. This puts the two day loss at 900 points or nearly 10%. This is the largest two day drop since 1987 (21 years ago). This is definitely change - but is it "Change We Need"?

POST ELECTION THOUGHTS AND CONSEQUENCES

First and foremost COMMON CENTS wants to congratulate Barack Obama on his historic win yesterday! Senator Obama ran a near-flawless aggressive campaign and should be congratulated for it. He is my President and he is our President. America did a historic thing by electing the first Black President in history.

Elections do have consequences and some of them are already apparent:

• Hamas celebrated by firing over 35 missiles into Israel.
• Finally Israel launched its first air strike into Gaza since June
• And Russia announced it is deploying missiles on the EU border.
• The day after the election the DOW Jones Industrial Average dropped nearly 500 points, over 5.1% down. In it's biggest post election drop EVER.
•

This isn't even really controversial. With no executive experience, no military experience and no business experience he is the least qualified presidential nominee in history. And he decided he was ready after serving 143 days in the minority party before declaring his candidacy:

We’re leaving in less than an hour for the very long drive to Ohio and Pennsylvania — please wish us luck. There’s no plausible mathematical scenario for Obama to win this election if he loses Ohio and Pennsylvania. NONE. So, if we succeed in putting everything we can muster into the ground game in these states — then we’ll win these two for McCain, and a good man will make it into the White House, instead of socialist Obama. Now is the time for all of us to stand up and fight for what we believe in. That’s what we are doing — so what about you?
